The Iris or "Iris and Herringbone" pattern of Depression Glass was first made in crystal or clear by the Jeannette Glass Company from 1928 through 1932. They brought the pattern back in the 1950's with an iridescent coloration similar to the marigold color of carnival glass made over two decades earlier. (Please note you will find the iridized Iris in its own category under forties and newer glass.) In the 1970's, Jeannette put out a candy dish bottom only with sprayed on colors and a white vase, most of which had a different color sprayed on the outside. Iris has recently been bitten by the plaque of reproductions. So far the coaster, dinner plate, 4" flat tumbler and 6 1/2" tumbler have all been reproduced in the earlier crystal. There are some distinct differences in pattern design and clarity or coloration of the glass.
